Making the Masterpiece
The developers and owners of Wisp Resort represent three family groups who have demonstrated lasting commitments to both the future and the environment of Garrett County, Maryland, for more than 30 years.
The landholding company for Wisp Resort was formed in 1994 as DC Development, LLC, with the acquisition of fee-simple title and/or options for 2,388 acres of land that surrounded Wisp. Over the years, approximately 700 adjacent additional acres were purchased, making the total land area in excess of 3,000 acres. In 2001, the ski and golf operations entity of Wisp Resort was acquired by the partners in order to provide an enhanced and rejuvenated resort operation adjacent to the 3,000-acre development parcel.
Since that time, the partners have invested over $30 million in capital improvements to bring the resort to first-class status.
